My Experience with AMD

by Frank
(Bartlett, TN)

I have wet AMD in my right eye and dry in the left eye. It was diagnosed about four months ago. Immediately after diagnosis, I received an injection of Avastin in my left eye.

The injection was repeated twice at one month intervals, and is now every six weeks. Straight lines are curved in a parabolic pattern starting from the center of the chart. There has been some slight improvement in the eye with the wet AMD.

I have not received any injections for the eye with dry AMD, but have been taking special vitamins. The evidence that the vitamins will help is not very convincing, but I'm taking them just in case. I'll try to update this as the problem progresses.

Wet & Dry Macular Degeneration
by: Kitty

Thank all of you for sharing! Just found this site today while desperately searching for solutions, answers and hope. I have dry in both eyes - but six weeks ago developed wet in my left eye. I am taking vitamins and started shot treatments in left eye. Am praying for "a miracle" and to not develop wet in my right eye. My Father is 93 with macular degeneration for over 15 years and I have watched him struggle...Blessings to all of you who are now under the stress and strains of living with AMD.

Me Too
by: Anonymous

I also have been recently diagnosed with macular degeneration. I have dry in the left and wet in the right. I am 66 years old and very upset. I take the vitamins. I don't know what else to do.

I am having a lot of trouble focusing while reading. I have the best luck on my kindle or iPad so that I can increase the font size.

Sunlight is really hard on me without sunglasses. But I need a good overhead light when trying to read. My eyes water so much it's embarrassing. Is there hope? My next appointment is in five weeks. One shot so far, one month ago.

I'm very depressed as I have so much I want to, read, garden, grandkids...

AMD supplements
by: Sue

Have faith in the supplements. They work long term. Eat the vegetables too. My mother keeps the sight she has very steady. It hasn't changed in many years. Clinical trials have proven that some supplements work well.
