Hello

A Morning Start with Macular Degeneration

Prevent spills, messes and frustration

My morning always starts with a cup of coffee - I fill my coffee pot, measure out my coffee grinds, brew, pour the morning gold into my mug and then add my creamer. It's a morning ritual and routine that brings me comfort and caffeine :).

But for those with vision loss, this simple routine provides lots of opportunities for frustration, spills and messes. With macular degeneration adapting to vision changes means adapting the way you do things. So instead of giving up your morning java, you can make this morning ritual work in a way that prevents overfilling your coffee mug or leaving your countertop splattered with coffee grinds.

Simple tips like pouring your black coffee into a white mug or using a white measuring spoon to measure out your dark coffee grounds maximizes your useable vision.

But there are some even simpler ways to circumvent irritation or defeat so you can start and end your morning with a smile and a cup of caffeine.
