Advances in Home Monitoring Using Optical Coherence Tomography May 12, 2022 |
Hello Advances in Home Monitoring Using Optical Coherence TomographyDid you know that not all clinical trials are focused on intervention or treatment of a disease? Research can also investigate devices that can help with earlier detection or improved quality of life. One such device,is the Notal Home Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) combined with the Notal OCT Analyzer using artificial intelligence.
![]() Home OCT Performance StudyIn the Home OCT Performance Study patients were given a baseline OCT in the office and then sent home with the Notal Vision Home OCT device. The 15 participants scanned their eyes on average 5.7 times per week over 3 months with ninety-five percent of the scans being accurate. The patient's eye doctor then reviewed the images stored on the cloud and based on the threshold settings for eye fluid accumulation, issued an alert.Researchers from Ophthalmic Consultants of Boston and Pepose Vision Institute in St. Louis found that patient operated Notal Home OCT retinal fluid detection (a primary marker for treatment decisions) were comparable to in-office OCT findings. Prof. Anat Loewenstein, Director of the Department of Ophthalmology at Tel Aviv Medical Center (Ichilov) in Tel Aviv, Israel. “ With home OCT, we as clinicians will be able to base our decisions on enormous qualitative and quantitative data with greater insights in disease activity between office visits. Home OCT may allow highly personalized retreatment decisions with fewer unnecessary injections and clinic visits.” For more information ...
