So Far So Good

I had the sudden onset of 1-2 days ONLY of wet macular degeneration in my left eye at age 63.
My vision was dark, distorted and lines distorted and wavy both horizontally and vertically. Facial features appeared as "half moons" in shape.
I self referred myself to a retina specialist and had a workup with OCT/FA and immediately was given intraocular injections of Avastin.
I have had 3 in 3 months so far and return in 6 weeks for another. The first 2 injections were unpleasant with respect to mild pain/tearing.
The third injection seems to have gone easier. So far the vision is significantly better seeing 20/20 even in the bad eye now.
I suppose I have been lucky having very early treatment. I would tell anyone to get to a knowledgable retina specialist and get there at the slightest variation in you vision.
Early treatment has, so far, served me well.
I eat very well with fresh fruits and vegetables; control my blood pressure; and am not overweight. No family history of this as I know.
SO RECOGNIZE THE CHANGES EARLY IF YOU ARE ABLE AND GET TO THE RETINA SPECIALIST ASAP! IS MY ADVISE.
BEST OF LUCK.
