Myopic Degeneration

Do you have any advice/information for those of us who have been diagnosed with myopic degeneration? I am looking for information on clinical trials and posterior scleral buckling as treatments. Thanks!

Answer

Hi Ann,

I found one clinical trial that has been completed for degeneratiive myopia (not associated with age related macular degeneration). It was sponsored by Johns Hopkins and the name of it was:

Bevicizumab (Avastin) Infusion for Choroidal Neovascularization (CNV) Not Associated With Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD)

Here is a link to Pub Med where the results and conclusions are published:

Intravenous bevacizumab causes regression of choroidal neovascularization secondary to diseases other than age-related macular degeneration.

Leslie Degner, RN, BSN

P.S. I will look to see what other studies have been done for Myopic Degeneration and will add to this post when I find them.
