MARY ANN, MY SWEET FRIEND
by Ruth Ann
I have a dear friend who is only 71. Mary Ann has Macular Degeneration. WebRN-Macular Degeberation.com is a very important web site that keeps us all on top of the facts & new information available.
New Treatments & world wide research is always moving forward.( THINK POSITIVE )
Mary Ann was lucky enough to have the Blind Association come into her home, helping her to manage every day chores.
Jeanie put big red knobs on her stove, washer & dryer making everyday jobs more pleasant, and restoring her independence.
Mary Ann qualified for a magnifier for reading & is now doing her crossword puzzles again (In INK).
She is now able to balance her check book with the aid of her magnifier. The Blind Association has taught her to use a red & white walking stick ..MA doesn't like the word cane.
They gave her a watch that talks to give her the time, also a calculator that talks, along with a really cool gadget for her drink glasses.
When the liquid hits the bottom of the sensor it sings a little tune of "It's a small world".(.too cute.)
My advice to eveyone ...." STAY INFORMED ,ALWAYS KNOW THERE IS HELP AVAILABLE.! "
" GOD BLESS " LESLIE DEGNER RN,BSN " for ALL her Help & all of her Time.......keeping us all informed.
