Floor Lamp Magnifier

I lost the vision in my right eye due to an infection surrounding the optic nerve. I am wanting to purchase a standing floor model lighted magnifier to aid me in sewing.
Can you tell me what features I need to look for in order to buy the right floor lamp magnifer that will suit my needs. How big should the magnifier be to help me see to sew?

Hi Margaret,
I'm glad to hear that you are wanting to adapt and find ways to continue a hobby that you enjoy -sewing.
With the right lighting and magnification you can hopefully continue with this hobby.
First thing you need to know is the power of magnification that you need - do you need 2x- 10x?
The person who can give you this answer is going to be your low vision specialist. You want to keep the number as low as possible so that you will have a larger field of vision.
Sometimes by improving your lighting, you can reduce the power of magnification that is needed for you to see clearly.
If it's not possible to get a recommendation from a low vision specialist, you can purchase a floor lamp magnifer and try it to see if it works for you. Select one with a flexible arm so that you adjust it.
Buy one that has a good return policy, so that if the magnification power isn't sufficient, you can return it.

I would like more information on your floor lamp.
I would like to order one for my mother who has macular degeneration. She lives in Canada,and would like to try it out.
Is is possible to try out first and then pay for it?
Do you deliver to Toronto?

I need to buy a floor lamp with magnification. You show one with a lamp and magnifier but not how or where to purchase.

Here is a picture of the magnifying floor lamp we bought for my father-in-law who has wet macular degeneration. We are giving it to him for Christmas too :) - so I will let the readers know what he thinks of it.
I was pleasantly surprised by how sturdy this lamp is - with a nice heavy base, good LED lighting, and an adjustable arm for better positioning.
