Would you please write about any types of treatment or vitamins and holistic products that would assist my macular edema condition? I am desperate for help to see again.

Macular Edema

Previously I had suffered with macular edema. Will it repeat again?

Symptoms are reddish eye,waterish.

REPLY

Macular edema is a macular disease that results from the swelling or collection of fluid underneath the macula, the center of the retina.

There are many different causes of it and yes there can be a reoccurence of it.

Any time you are experiencing new vision symptoms you should contact your eye doctor.

Here are some of the common macular edema symptoms:

Macular Edema

What is the difference between macular edema and macular degeneration?

How common is it for an 11 year old to have macular edema?

Are there any other treatments for macular edema other than surgery or shots such as drops, etc.

REPLY

The macula is a "place" in the retina. It is the functional center and, hence, anything problem in this area is will be described as "macular."

Macular edema is swelling (edema) of the part of the retina called the macula. It is very uncommon for an 11 year old.

Macular degeneration is commonly seen in older adults and is a progressive disease.

The key to treating macular edema is determining the cause. Was this 11 year old given a diagnosis, say, for example, Coats' Disease?

Look forward to hearing from you,

Is treatment available for macular edema. MS post 23 years.

REPLY

Dear Homer,

There are lots of treatments for macular edema and many causes of macular edema, but I am not aware of any macular edema that results directly from MS (multiple sclerosis).

Could you share just a little bit about the type of problem you are having?

Thanks,
