There are programs by the pharmaceutical companies that can assist you with the cost of drugs like

Free Large Print and Audio Books and Magazines
1) The National Library Service for the Blind and Physically Handicapped provides FREE Braille and recorded materials through the Library of Congress. 2) Choice Magazine Listening (CML) offers FREE audio magazine articles for the visually impaired. 3) The National Association for the Vision Impaired, in New York offers a free large print loan library. Free Books on Tape
Free books on tape and magazines in audio form (and braille) are delivered to eligible readers by postage-free mail and are returned in the same manner. Specially designed cassette players are also loaned free to those who borrow talking books from the National Library Service for the Blind and Physically Handicapped. Low Vision Occupational Therapy
Low vision occupational therapy can assist the patient with macular degeneration by providing a home visit and evaluation with recommendations to allow the patient to function at their best and maintain their independence.
Usually the cost is covered by medicare or insurance and can be free for the patient.
