Downloadable Books on Tape
Downloadable books on tape are provided for free thanks to many volunteers.According to their website, "LibriVox, volunteers record chapters of books in the public domain into digital audio (eg. mp3), and then make the audio files available to the world, for free (through our catalog, a podcast, and bittorrents)." They can be downloaded to and then listened to on your computer, iPod, lap top , CD player, or other MP3 player. You can download audio books for free at: http://librivox.org/newcatalog/ Free podcast feeds are available here: http://librivox.org/podcast.xml
Audio Books for Free
Audio books for free can be found in all different genres. When you go to LibriVox you can search by author, genres, title, most listened to, and recently added.I've downloaded audio books to my computer and to my iPod Touch (3rd Generation). It is so much easier using the iPod Touch. If you download to your PC, then you need to copy it to a CD or transfer the file to your MP3 player. With the iPod Touch - you simply download the audio book right to the device. Since it is so small you can take it anywhere. I listen to audio books on the train during my commute to work.

Listen to iPod Touch Audiobooks
Listening to your free audio books is so easy.
1. At your main page, touch the Book Player icon
2. On the bottom of the screen on the left, touch My Books
3. Touch Start Book
When you stop listening to your book and come back to it later, it will automatically start off where you left it.
Be sure your iPod is fully charged - sometimes when my charge is low I have trouble hearing the audio book with the headset plugged in.
Discount Audiobooks
The disadvantage to free audio books on line, is that the readers are all volunteers. So the quality of the reader will vary from book to book. Some volunteer readers do a better job than others. There is definitely a big difference in the quality, inflection and ability of professional readers compared to volunteer readers. Audio books on line that are read by professionals are much more interesting to listen to than the free ones. Try the free audiobooks on line first, and then if you find that your mind is drifting because of the quality of the reader, consider purchasing discount audiobooks. To learn more click here:
