I am 46 years old and was just officially diagnosed with dry AMD. They kept asking me "are you sure you never smoked?", like I would forget something like that.
I did the DNA swab and have to go back in 6 weeks to get the results. The thing that most concerned them was the fact that I also have elevated pressure, 20 in my left eye and 22 in my right eye. I've been referred to a neurologist to get an MRI since one of the tests also showed that there was a big delay from the time an image hits my eye to when it is processed.
They aren't sure if its due to swelling of the optic nerve or if there is something else going on. I just know that I have daily headaches and blurry vision. Not sure if its the AMD or the optic nerve swelling causing it, will find out after I see the neurologist. At least the AMD is dry and I'm in the early stages. Its sad that I'm glad that I have less to worry about with the AMD than the swollen optic nerve. Anyone else have anything similar to this?
