Dry Macular Degeneration

by Jo Parslow
(London, uk)

I was diagnosed with dry macular degeneration two years ago. I was devastated. I have 6 certificates in art and design, and I haven't painted or drawn anything for a year.

Two years ago I made 4 bridesmaids dresses, 3 little sailor suits and one baby sailor dress for my daughter's wedding. Now I feel I can't even sew a button on. I have gone through all sorts of frustrating, hopeless, (I give up) periods with this debilitating disease. Now I am in I suppose a kind of remission.

I am not going to give into this, I am going to fight it. I feel strong, and have a plan which I have been doing ever since I was diagnosed. It seems to be working.

My most important change has been that I take daily 20 mg lutein, concentrated bilberry capsules and goji berry capsules.

Recent eye exams have shown proof that my macular disease has not got worse, in fact may have improved. Now I making plans for the future, with inspirational ideas, new art projects, that I think will be actually visually available to me.

I feel really positive about this. I hope my story is helpful to you. Bless.
