Hello

Best Ways to Improve TV Viewing

Have you found yourself struggling to see the images or faces while your watching TV? Do they appear blurred or distorted? Maybe you are no longer able to see the fine details and watching TV or renting a movie is not as enjoyable as it used to be.

This is common for those with macular degeneration. The ability to distinguish contrast and to see details is part of the vision loss due to damaged cone cells in the macula.

As someone with age related macular degeneration, learning to adjust and adapt will help keep you doing the activities that you enjoy. There are some things you can do to adapt to viewing your TV so that you can see images more clearly.

1. Sit closer to the TV

Maybe you are used to watching TV from your favorite recliner which is several feet away from your TV. Try moving your chair closer to the TV - this is the first and easiest step to try.

2. Adjust the Contrast

Try adjusting the contrast button on your TV. Contrast sensitivity is often greatly diminished, so by enhancing the contrast, the images will appear sharper.
