How to Choose the Best Sunglasses

Hello

How to Choose the Best Sunglasses

The retina and the cornea are very susceptible to damage caused by oxidation which results from exposure to different harmful lights such as ultraviolet light and blue light.

Ultraviolet light exposure increases one's risk for cataracts, but the link to macular degeneration is not as well defined.

The amount of exposure to UV light depends on the time of day. The greatest exposure occurs between 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM. Even on cloudy days UV light is present - that's because it is an invisible light.

UV light can enter the eye from above and the sides exposing our eyes to its damaging effects. Wrap around sunglasses provide side protection while visors and broad-brimmed hats provide protection from above.

Blue light is a visible light that contributes to the development of macular degeneration. To protect your eyes from blue light you need to wear sunglasses that have an orange or red-orange tint for the best protection or yellow, amber, or gold tint for moderate protection.
