Light Up Your Magnifier

Have you noticed that when you try to read or see something, that when you bring it under a lamp or near a sunny window, that suddenly the words and pictures are clearer and easier to see?

Lighting becomes even more important when a person develops macular degeneration. We sent my father-in-law, who has late stage macular degeneration or geographic atrophy, several handheld magnifiers for Christmas. This way he could have one handy in different rooms of the house or in the garage or the basement.

All of the low vision magnifiers were a little bit different, so that he could tell us which one he liked the best.

The best magnifier for him was the LED illuminated magnifier. Combining the bright LED light with a magnifier helped him see the best.
