How do You Like Your Audio Books?

Hello

How do You Like Your Audio Books?

My father-in-law who has wet macular degeneration can still read with lighted magnifiers, but finds that reading long books has become quite a strain for him. He has found that listening to books can be very enjoyable and more relaxing than struggling to read whole pages.

Fortunately there are many options for those who want to consider audio books.

1. New and Used Books on Tape can be found at your local library, or at www.half.com

2. Cheap Books on CD can be purchased from Amazon or Barnes and Noble book stores

3. Free Talking Books or Books on Tape are available from the National Library Service for the Blind and Physically Handicapped.

Tapes and a special cassette players are both provided for free to those who are eligible.

4. Audio Books on Line are available for free from Librovox or at a discount from Audible.com. These books can be played on your computer, laptop, netbook, iPod, or iPhone.

Consider which technology is most comfortable and easy to use for the person who is going to be listening to the audio books.
